FFL Transfer Guide

Understand how Gun Bunny routes firearm orders to a verified receiving FFL and what happens before, during, and after the dealer transfer.

Ordering a firearm online does not transfer the firearm to you. Products marked “FFL transfer required” are shipped only to a verified receiving Federal Firearms Licensee. The receiving dealer—not this website—checks identification, completes the required transfer records and background-check process, applies applicable state and local requirements, and determines whether the firearm may lawfully be released.

LICENSED-DEALER TRANSFER

Choose the destination before checkout.

Add an FFL-routed product to the cart and continue to the Dealer step. Search the store-managed licensee directory, review the public license details, and select the receiving location before entering billing information.

Before ordering

Contact the receiving dealer first.

Directory inclusion shows a potential destination; it does not confirm that the dealer is open, accepts the item type, or has agreed to this transfer. Ask about acceptance, fees, required documents, pickup timing, and any local restrictions before placing the order.

01

Review the exact product

Confirm the model, SKU, caliber, capacity, configuration, price, availability, and “FFL transfer required” label. Similar names can describe materially different items.

02

Confirm lawful eligibility

You must be the actual transferee or buyer and must be legally eligible for the exact item and destination. An online order is not an eligibility determination or approval.

03

Choose the receiving dealer

Select a dealer in the appropriate state and contact it directly. Dealer fees and local requirements are separate unless checkout expressly says otherwise.

04

Keep sensitive records off the site

Do not submit driver’s licenses, state firearm credentials, Form 4473 information, eligibility records, full FFL images, or payment credentials through contact forms or order notes.

How the transfer works

  1. Add the exact item. Review its transfer label and product details before adding it to the cart.
  2. Select a receiving dealer. Continue from the cart to the dealer-selection step and choose the agreed destination.
  3. Order review begins. Gun Bunny reviews availability, payment, destination restrictions, receiving-dealer acceptance, and the dealer credentials required before shipment.
  4. The firearm ships to the dealer. It is not shipped to the customer’s residential or ordinary shipping address.
  5. The dealer checks in the shipment. Wait for the receiving dealer to tell you the item is ready; carrier delivery does not necessarily mean it is ready for pickup.
  6. You appear in person. Bring the identification and documents the dealer has told you are required. The dealer completes the applicable federal, state, and local process.
  7. The dealer makes the release decision. Only the receiving dealer can release the firearm, and only when the transfer may lawfully proceed.

Mixed orders and dealer changes

Direct-delivery merchandise and FFL-routed items can have different destinations and may ship separately. If the selected dealer will not accept the transfer, contact Gun Bunny before shipment. A destination change requires fresh dealer confirmation and may affect timing or cost.

Delays, denials, refusal, and non-pickup

A background-check delay is not an approval or denial, and Gun Bunny cannot override or predict the dealer’s process. If a transfer is denied, refused, abandoned, or not collected, the item remains subject to the dealer’s procedures and the order-specific cancellation or return terms. Return freight, dealer charges, or other documented costs may apply only when disclosed and permitted by law. For a federal NICS denial, the FBI provides a process for requesting the reason or challenging the result.

No legal advice

This guide explains the site’s ordering workflow. It does not determine eligibility or replace current federal, state, local, tribal, or receiving-dealer requirements.
